ALOHA!

Welcome to our collection of fine hand-made Hawaiian soap and other natural tropical luxuries.
In an age when small-scale sustainable agriculture is disappearing, Rainbow Ridge Farm is an exception to the rule.
Rainbow Ridge Farm is a cottage based ‘Ohana (family) business that remains true to its founding principle.
We believe in the integrity of using the finest and most effective natural ingredients for products designed to procure true well-being.
Walk around Maui and you are struck by the vibrant colors, tropical scents and exotic beauty of this abundant "aina" or land. I celebrate this beauty through my connection to the abundant soil, clean waters, healing botanicals, animals, and endemic life found on the Hawaiian Islands.
Here at Rainbow Ridge, we are blessed with pastoral rolling hills, fruit trees of loquat, cherimoya, limes, avocado, fig, banana, guava, persimmon, coffee, lilikoi, poha berry and much more. Sentinels of koa, eucalyptus, jacaranda and giant ferns stand strong and vibrant. Flower gardens, ponds, raised bed vegetable and herb gardens contribute a lovely palate of colors and flavors for the visual artist, culinary expert and soap maker. When I created Rainbow Ridge Farm Soaps, I set out to capture this inspirational bounty in all our natural products.
The unique Olinda Maui climate and soil yield an exceptional variety of fragrant plants with unique properties. My objective was to research Hawaiian archives for uses and recipes then revive and create new products while preserving local customs. Intrigued by local traditions and history, I began developing products that represent Maui, the land or "aina", and people. Rainbow Ridge Farm is a unique brand focusing on the well-being of people through the use of fine natural products.

Our original soap recipe contains the finest tropical fruit and vegetable oils, blended with nutrient rich natural goat milk from our adored herd of rare Nigerian dwarf dairy goats. We add precious specialty oils like local fresh kukui nut, avocado, macadamia nut, castor, cocoa and mango butter, aloe, jojoba and hemp oil to the already rich base of olive, palm fruit, creamy coconut, canola seed, and natural soy oils.
Next comes the alchemy of essential fragrance oils anointing the saponified batter for the unique tropical scented goat milk soap. Some batches are blended with garden herbs and flowers in whole, crushed or powdered form, which ascends our soap to a new level of creamy sudsy heaven that gently moisturerizes, helps heal, and is sumptuously luxurious.
Why is our goat milk soap so good?
Milk has been used for centuries as a cleanser and skin conditioner. Now scientists believe that goat milk soap has a pH level that is closest to the skins own pH level. The milk contains Caprylic Acid, which assists in reducing the alkalinity of the soap bar. Cosmetic chemists are calling goat's milk "Nature's Liposome". Goat milk soap is easily absorbed into the skin, bringing with it moisture and restorative proteins, minerals and Vitamins.
There are 50 nutrients, including the vital vitamins of A, C, B1, B6, B12 and E, minerals, citric acid, amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids, enzymes, and a variety of other nutrients that nourish and revitalize dehydrated skin. Vitamin A slows down the effects of aging, prevents brown spots and thickening of the skin, while zinc contributes to the reconstruction of collagen fibers, encouraging moisture retention and assisting in maintaining your skinís elasticity.
We have raised our goats in the most natural and healthy way possible, grazing free-range with their young, eating the fallen fruits and lush greens. We also mix whole grains with molasses for their healthy breakfast and dinner. Nigerian goats are one of the few breeds that can breed all year. As a result we have fresh goat milk for 12 months. Nigerian Goats produce higher butterfat milk than regular dairy goats, and in combination with our superior recipe of the finest oils produces a divinely creamy soap.
Another reason our soap is so incredible is the natural vegetable glycerin generated during the soap making process is left in our soaps. This adds to the moisturizing benefits. (Glycerin is naturally occurring humectants. It attracts and holds moisture to the skin. Mass-market soap makers remove the glycerin and sell it separately)
Then there are the testimonials. Some of our customers have reported that they have had relief from psoriasis and eczema, along with many other pleasing results. Soon we will have our testimonial page that will also include a few celebrities!
And best of all - a portion of profit is donated to local Charities For Children right here on Maui!
Aloha from our ‘Ohana to yours,
Denise Fleetham, proprietor
Ingredients Benefits:
Goat Milk
Vitamin A is believed to slow down the effects of aging, prevent brown spots and thickening of the skin, while zinc contributes to the reconstruction of collagen fibers, encouraging moisture retention and assisting in maintaining your skin’s elasticity.
Kukui Nut Oil (coo-coo-e) "Kukui" in Hawaiian means "enlightened". This is a highly prized oil and a luxury in soaps and skin care products. The Hawaiian people treasure this oil for its many ancient and present uses. It was the ancient Polynesians who brought this tree to the Hawaiian Islands where it has become naturalized. The nuts were cracked open and the seeds were skewered onto the midrib of a coconut frond or slender bamboo stem and set on fire. The Polynesians used them for candles that burned for about 45 minutes. Hawaiians also extracted the oil for many other uses, such as polishing the nuts to make shiny dark brown or black bracelets and leis.
The oil has outstanding emollient qualities. It is nongreasy and easily absorbed. Kukui nut oil is high in linolenic acid (omega 3) and linoleic (omega 6) essential fatty acids. Both are critical for healthy skin. Research has shown that Kukui nut oil can benefit sunburn, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and chapped skin. The oil has also been used as rubbing oil for rheumatism.
Macadamia Nut Oil
Like Kukui Nut Oil, this is another luxury oil in soap. It is easily absorbed into the skin. It consists of about 80% monounsaturated fatty acids and a very high amount of palmitoleic acid than other oils. Some studies suggest that palmitoleic acid may work as an antioxidant. This may protect cell membranes from deterioration.
Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is obtained from the pulp of the avocado pear. This precious oil is one of the most active and effective oils used in the fine beauty and skincare industry. This oil contains a high percentage of "unsaponifiables"
This is the part of the oil that does not react to form soap, but retains its original constitution. The result is a highly therapeutic oil which contains protein, amino acids, and large amounts of vitamins A, D, and E, making this oil very much alive. All these factors contribute to healing and moisturizing. It is believe that avocado oil can assist in regenerating cells, soften body tissue, and heal scaly skin and scalp.
Mango Butter
I feel Mango Butter and Kukui oil are two of nature’s greatest oils. Mango butter is obtained from the fruit kernel of the mango tree. It has a protective effect against UV radiation and is believed to aid in wound healing. It has been used for treating arthritis, joint pain, dry and weathered skin, crack skin, chapped lips and sunburn.
Mango Butter has also been used in the prevention of wrinkles and restores elasticity while moisturizing and softening dry skin. It helps dry and brittle hair and revitalizes split ends. It can protects hair from damaging sunrays, hair dryers, perms and dyes. It helps to prevent weak hair from breaking, fading or thinning out.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter is obtained from the same bean as chocolate. This butter lays down a protective layer that holds moisture to the skin. This makes cocoa butter a great skin softener. It is an emolient and is recommended for stretch marks, skin softening, wrinkles, chapped hands, lips, pregnant skin, skin irritations.
Castor Oil
Castor oil acts like as a humectant by attracting and retaining moisture to the skin. It is wonderfully emollient.
Olive Oil
Olive oil works as a great moisturizer in soap. It has its own healing properties and attracts external moisture and holds the moisture close to the skin.
Coconut Oil
When used in combination with other high quality oils, coconut lends great lather and moisturizing qualities to soap.
Palm Oil
Just like coconut oil, palm lends great lather and moisturizing qualities to soap when combined with luxury oils.
Soybean oil
When soybean oil is used in combination with other high quality oils it offers mildness, stable lather. When used with olive oil, as in our soap, it offers wonderful conditioning.
Canola Seed Oil
This seed produces oil high in protein and low in erucic acid content. It offers good moisturizing qualities.
Infused Calendula
Calendula flowers are known for their skin care properties that are regenerative and anti-inflammatory. The oil promotes healing of a variety of skin damage such as wounds and burns. It softens and soothes dry chapped skin.
Infused Comfrey
Comfrey root and leaves have been used medicinally to heal and soothe. This herb is also thought to regenerate cell growth after injury. Externally the leaves are used to treat sprains, swelling, and bruises.
